We all know that keeping your plants hydrated can majorly affect their growth. Misting your houseplants is a very effective way to boost their humidity, and by misting your plants in bits, you are providing yourself with an easy way to avoid over-watering.
There are a lot of methods you can use to keep your plants hydrated, some of which include keeping them in the bathroom and using a humidifier, and one of the most commonly used ones include making use of plant misters and spray bottles. But what is the difference between plant mister vs spray bottle?
In this article, we will discuss what makes these two different and similar since they are used for a similar purpose.
What Are Plant Misters?
A plant mister is simply a spray bottle. These bottles have a very small nozzle opening so that when they spray water, it comes out so tiny that some particles remain in the air, thereby increasing humidity.
Many house plants are brought from humid environments to homes, and when they are kept in your various homes, they do not get as much humidity as the ones they receive from the natural environment, hence the need for plant misters.

What Are Spray Bottles?
Spray bottles are similar to plant misters since they come in a bottle that squirts liquid from its nozzle. The major difference between the plant misters and the spray bottles is that the liquid given off by these bottles is not as small as that of the plant misters.
They can both be used to mist your plants when they are dry since these plants need an arid environment to thrive properly. Spray bottles are not only found when you want to spray your plants; you can also use them for cosmetic purposes.
Plant Mister Vs Spray Bottles
There is not much of a difference between these two because spray bottles are just like examples of plant misters since they are both used for misting plants. Misting is helpful for indoor and outdoor plants; however, you need the right material to help you stress-free water these plants.
Plant misters are containers that look like a perfume vial that spray a little amount of water at a time. These misters can be used for your house plants, applying your liquid fertilizers, keeping the soil moist after planting your seeds without overwatering, and spraying dust and debris off your leaves.
You do not need to get something fancy for it to be worthy of being called a plant mister; an ordinary spray bottle can also do this job perfectly.
A spray bottle, on the other hand, is very similar to the plant misters, and what’s more, you can apply it outside gardening. For example, you can use your spray bottle as a container for holding your household cleaning solutions such as bleach or vinegar.
What are Plant Misters Used For?
you can use your plant misters in many gardening practices like; seed germination, seeding care, pest control, managing the amount of humidity in your plants, and plant cleansing.
1. Seed Germination
If you want to start up your farm or garden, the first step you would need to take is getting your seeds to germinate, and two major factors that affect the germination rate of your seeds include the soil moisture and the temperature.
These are the two most important factors, and to ensure that these seeds germinate well, you would need to ensure that they are warm enough and are getting a sufficient amount of moisture without getting too wet.
Plant misters are the perfect materials you would need to get this done in little time and the right amount. Since these spray bottles spray just a little water, you can easily control the amount of water that gets onto your plant seeds.
Seedling Care
After your seeds have successfully germinated properly, you still need to maintain a stable temperature and good moisture. A spray bottle lets you control the amount of water that gets onto every seedling; that way, you can easily avoid seeding and causing root rot.
You can also make a nutrient spray by mixing your water with fertilizer. Still, you should ensure that you read the instruction of the container before making use of it because if you use an overly concentrated fertilizer on your plant, it can get burnt.
Plant Cleaning
Plants that have been left outdoor are sure to have accumulated some dust on their leaves, but since they are outside, the rain can wash them off. What happens when your indoor plants accumulate this dust? There would be no rain or wind to wash them off, so what do you do?
The answer to this is easy, and your spray bottle can clean the leaves of your pants if they are sprayed in the right amount.
You can use a light cloth to wipe away the dust that must have accumulated, as this would interfere with your photosynthesis by preventing the plants from absorbing the required amount of light.
If this dust continues to pack up, it kills your plants slowly, leading to their gradual death.
Pest Control
This method is a condition that indoor and outdoor plants can prey on. An example of a common pest to plants is the aphid, but not to worry, there are many effective ways to get rid of these pests, including spraying them off.
The downside of this method is that they might not kill your plants, and they might just wash them up but not permanently, so to be on the safer side, you can mix the water with some insect repellent to create a killing mix.
You should still use the plant mister to apply this mixture as it would help you not go overboard with your spraying. You should be careful with your labeling on the repellant so you do not apply the wrong insecticide, which may end up killing your plant also.

When Do You Mist Your Plants?
The best time to mist your plant is in the morning because it gives them enough time to dry off before the nighttime provides them with a naturally humid environment. If you let the leaves of your plants stay too long, they could develop fungal disease from the spores you can find in the air.
